City of London Launch Green to Gold Campaign

Published: 5 July 2011

Green to Gold is a campaign to encourage, engage and inspire communities to use open spaces for positive recreation to enhance health and well being.  The campaign aims to encourage you to use your local open space for walking, cycling, riding or any activity that means you enjoy the fresh air and outdoor environment in your area.

Green to Gold is happening right across London in all the Open Spaces that the City of London looks after.

Green to Gold is a unique chance for communities to harness the potential of a lasting legacy of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London in 2012. Green to Gold has been awarded the Olympic Inspire Mark, in recognition of its accessible, participative and inspiring ambitions to promote and celebrate the value of open space to surrounding communities.

The official launch event for the programme will take place alongside the City of London Festival in the  Guildhall Yard on Wednesday 6 July 2011 - come along and welcome a team of 40 City of London cyclists who have travelled in from five of our Open Spaces that morning, meet a legendary Olympian and a Team 2012 athlete, talk to a number of providers who will help you get you fit and health or take part in a one of our activities.
